I have noticed unusually extended yellowing of the inner needles of my pine tree. The same phenomenon shows in the pine trees in my neighborhood. I know that some yellowing is a natural occurrence, but I haven't seen it to this degree. Is there a problem with a fungal disease?

The yellowing on the interior is normal. However, on the ends of the branches is not normal. It is likely a disease and possibly root issues. Please make an appointment to have an arborist look at your trees for a better evaluation. We will likely take a tissue sample to be evaluated at our research lab.

Adjusting soil pH so it is optimum for a plant species will ensure nutrients are continually available for improved vigour, flowering, and fruit yield. Organic matter is often deficient in urban and suburban soils and this is a key component for healthy soils. Organic matter improves soil nutrient and moisture retention, provides resistance to compaction, serves as a source of essential plant nutrients and enhances soil microbial populations that are essential to healthy soils.
