Brown Foliage in the Interior of Emerald Green Arborvitae

We have a stretch of six to eight feet tall Emerald Green Arborvitae which, this year, have a lot of brown foliage in the center of the tree. Last summer, we put a drip line on the trees with fertilizer but they appear to be dying. They were planted about ten years ago have been relatively healthy until recently. What would you advise?

It is tough to give accurate diagnosis without inspecting. But given my experience with Emerald Green Arborvitae, it is common for the interior to brown up due to lack of light, especially if they have shade on one side. Also, they are very susceptible to spider mites and excess watering will cause root disease to develop. After establishment the watering should be one or two times per week.
